Chaplain-General A T Holden wrote to Jonathan’s parents in November 1916, who were then living at 1 Michie Street, Port Melbourne letting them know that their son had just returned to London from the Somme and he was well and cheerful. The report in the Standard in February 1917 reveals that Jonathan’s middle name was Falkingham and that prior to enlisting he worked as a carpenter for builders, Lidston & Falkingham, Collingwood.
