Enlisted with wife at the corner of Ferrars Street and City Road,  almost certainly the Wayside Inn or Mendes Royal Hotel; later 27 Pickles Street, Port Melbourne and North Melbourne, 44 year old merchant seaman after having spent some 25 years with the Royal Navy and China Contingent during the Boxer Rebellion.  Five daughters (two married, one deceased), two sons. No circular returned)
