Warren was a member of the Graham Street Methodist Church choir and played with the church cricket and football clubs winning a ‘silver card case enclosing 100 printed cards’ for the best bowling average in 1915/16. He was also presented with a pocket wallet on behalf of the two clubs, a pocket compass from the church itself and a signet ring from the choir prior to his embarkation on active service.
