Captain, 46th Infantry, killed in action 12 June, 1917, Belgium, aged 29, commemorated Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium  

(Parents : Donald Murray (late) and Mrs Lyle McPHERSON, wife : Mrs Ethel May McPHERSON, born Port Melbourne (corner Bridge and Derham streets). He enlisted as a 27 year-old clerk with his wife at “Alverton”, corner of Wando Grove and Hughenden Roads, East St Kilda, Second Lieutenant on embarkation.  No circular returned, eyewitnesses suggested he was hit by shrapnel in the abdomen and head near Messines and died before he could be taken to a Dressing Station. He was buried but his remains were not found post-war, no known grave)
