Father: Jack MARIAN, born Port Melbourne. Marian enlisted from Station Street, North Carlton as an 18-year-old cordial maker, his father nominated as next of kin. No circular returned, but a Death Notice in The Age, 19 April, 1918 shows him as “William S”, second eldest son, a brother, Private A J MARIAN, another brother Percy and two sisters.
