    Born 1886, Hotham (North Melbourne), parents Charles Jasper and Mrs Isabella Altwater Maltravers, nee Penny (both deceased). Two brothers enlisted from Marrickville, Sydney : 1854, Alfred Frederick Maltravers, Driver, 45 Field Artillery , killed in action 19 October, 1917, aged 24, and 1387, William Henry Maltravers, Private, 14th Infantry. The latter pair were born in Collingwood, but the circular returned by Alfred’s sister nominated South Melbourne as the area he was most closely associated with
