Wallace was wounded at the Dardanelles and ‘sympathetic references’ were made to him at the meeting of the Port Bicycle Club on 13 May 1915. The members subsequently passed a vote of sympathy to Dr Hill with hope that his son would soon be restored to health. It was also decided unanimously that the names of all members serving the Empire should be inscribed on a roll of honour.
