Parents: William Henry (late) and Clara BASS, born Ballarat. He enlisted as an 18-year-old labourer with mother as next of kin, 117 Station Street. Bass died of unspecified wounds at the 1st South Midlands Casualty Clearing Station. Circular later returned from 214 Nott Street; a Death Notice was placed by an uncle and aunt, but did not identify immediate family members.
