Trooper, 13 Light Horse, died of wounds 19 September, 1915, Gallipoli, aged 28, commemorated Beach Cemetery, Gallipoli.

Parents: Hugh (late) and Mrs Annie McCARTHY, Born St Arnaud. Enlisted in Bendigo as a 28-year-old labourer giving his father c/o All England Hotel, Port Melbourne as next of kin. His mother is later listed in Princes and Graham streets, it is not clear whether his father was still living. Brother, 3819, Raymond McCARTHY enlisted from 76 Princess Street, two other brothers, two married sisters.
