Parents: William Charles and Elizabeth FAWCETT, born Port Melbourne, educated Montague Street SS, South Melbourne, 31 Ingles Street. He enlisted as a 20-year-old farm hand with his and his father’s address as the Swan Hotel, Richmond. Circular returned by his father from Flinders Street, Melbourne nominated Richmond as his late son’s place of association. Directories at the time of his birth show the family at 508 City Road, South Melbourne. A brother, 499. James Joseph FAWCETT served with the 5th Infantry after earlier being rejected, father shown at 7 Patterson Place, South Melbourne.
