Born North Melbourne (circular), Port Melbourne (attestation), educated St Ignatius RC, Richmond. Enlisted as a 26-year-old tailor’s cutter from Richmond and that was shown by his mother as her late son’s closest place of association, she was still shown there in correspondence as late as 1936.
